New S80s are very rare here (never mind clean ones), so I’ve found a very nice armored one, I love it, not the V8, but I still want it. The extra pocket change would be nice, I think I can trade it for the Tribeca and get around BRL2o,000 (around $6,000) back.

Every time you mention the need for armor I do a bit of a double take. That just seems so strange to me. Hopefully you never need to see how well it works!

Volvo S80 + Citroen C5 = Best fleet ever. Not that C5 + Tribeca isn’t already great...

I like them, I drove a t5 2014 s80 as a loaner one weekend and really enjoyed it, needs to be a wagon for me though

Ah, you’re in Brazil, eh?
That would explain the need for an armoured vehicle...

Exactly.

I’ve only once got my window smashed, but that was enough for me to decide to buy only armored from now on.

sweeet! She is running!!!
Yeah I asked some higher ups from Volvo that came over when we launched the XC90. He told me that S90 and V90 will be out by 2018/19. Remember those sweet concepts? From what he heard from the handful of people that have seen the production S90/V90 in Sweden, they will be almost identical to the concept (plus 2 more doors) . I have driven many a V40 both XC and R-Design in Mexico DF. S40/C30/and C70 will also reaturn with the new SPB or SPC platform. It will be rad. The new XC90 will be the oldest vehicle in the fleet by 2018

Would you do a walk around? opening windows and showing some of the armor on the car? I’d love to see how comparably “normal” cars are armored, as opposed to being say, a Mercedes S-Class.

That’s actually a very nice idea, I’ll do that. But they are not all that different, sure, presidential cars have a completely different armoring process when compared to a civilian S-Class but the process and materials used on an armed Mini and the S-Class is the same.

Not many of us have been around any sort of armored cars. Yours is very much a unique viewpoint. I am curious, how does that affect the value of cars, new and used?

I’m gonna give you some concrete examples, brand new, it adds $10,000 to the value of the car, after 6 year the price difference between a normal example and an armored one is almost non-existent. I’m going to make a post with a better and more complete explanation.

12 billion dollar investment from Geely better pay off. So far so good with the XC90

Oh I agree whole heartedly; I don’t like suv’s, full size suv's are slightly better, but I love the xc90 il just never buy an SUV sadly
